Hey, you can enjoy modern RPGs and still think that 3.5 was the best edition of D&D! The boss is just being reductive.
I imagine that the gang’s game nights must be fairly fraught.

I wouldn’t call D&D a “modern TTRPG system”. I’d call it a “system that has been stuck in its glory days of the eighties when its popularity surged due to it being one of like seven RPGs in existence”. Modern systems (even the ones in the OSR movement, somewhat paradoxically) all trace their lineage in some way to the indie revolution of the aughts and games like My Life with Master, Dogs in the Vineyard, and The Burning Wheel.

For me, it’s not so much that 3.5 was the ‘best’ system of D&D so much as WotC’s business practises proved intolerably toxic in rrcent years.
I can’t help but notice that the bartender isn’t complaining about Lana having her idiot-traps out in public…
Lana has a very high Charisma modifier and succeeded at all her skill checks.
Also, the idiot-traps give her a +5 circumstantial modifier to all Charisma checks, and provoke a Will save when first observed.
There’s no way she could fail! 😀

Lana has the whole feat chain for both ‘High School Bully’- and ‘Succubus Ninja’-CQC.
Fi is a slow learner. Lana better be careful. If the chief meets Fi, he’ll probably put her on the payroll.
